Whidbey Island Bungalow
Freeland WA
1993
Perched on high bank waterfront overlooking Baby Island this 2500 square foot beach house is reminiscent of California beach bungalows from the Owners childhood. The classic shed dormer bungalow form was nestled into the treed landscape with as little site intervention as possible.
From the transparent stair off the entry into the open kitchen and through the great room with it's river rock Rumford fireplace a 220-degree view of the water is framed. A large master suite is to the north of the stair hall that also leads down to a second bedroom and bath on the lower floor and up to a sleeping loft overlooking the great room.
